WWE Smackdown RESULTS: Shane McMahon sets up HUGE WrestleMania match before brutal attack

March 14, 2018 3:21 am

On-screen Smackdown Commissioner McMahon has been involved in a rivalry with Owens and Zayn for the last five months and cost them the opportunity to become WWE Champion last Sunday at Fastlane.

That led to Shane-O-Mac announcing he will be taking an indefinite leave of absence following his conduct that he described as perhaps “unbecoming of Smackdown’s Commissioner”.

He said: “Now I’ve had numerous conversations, including one today with Smackdown’s General Manager Daniel Bryan, who I’m pleased to say will be returning to Smackdown Live next week.

“I also told Daniel that he’s going to be going it alone because effective immediately after tonight’s show I’m taking an indefinite leave of absence as Smackdown Live’s Commissioner.

“But before I do, I’m here to make one specific and special matchup.

“And based on, leading up to and what I saw at Fastlane, based on the commentary I heard tonight from these two individuals, it will be Kevin Owens taking on Sami Zayn at WrestleMania.”

Owens and Zayn then came out and expressed their joy to see McMahon go but also decided to give him a brutal parting gift.

Zayn hit the Commissioner with a Helluva Kick and Owens gave him two Pop-up Powerbombs- one of which happened backstage.

The duo also crushed Shane-O-Mac’s larynx with a steel chair that they folded on his neck before pushing him on the turnbuckle.

McMahon started a feud with Owens in September after KO brutalised his father and WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.

The two faced off in a Hell in a Cell match which saw Owens winning with the help of Zayn.

The ex-NXT stars formed a strong unit but their alliance started to crumble when they both targeted WWE Champion AJ Styles.

KO and the The Underdog from the Underground seem set to face each other at Mania but after tonight’s attack, McMahon should be joining in to make it a Triple Threat Match.
